All in the family...

What new adventures are in store for Ck & B2 in 2000?

After having survived the Christmas season in tact, well just, we are off to a flying start in the New Year, getting our lives once more back into some form of routine.

B2 will be spending a good part of January and February on business up in Nordenham, north Germany, whilst Ck planned a disappearing act down south to Munich, to go hang with her old buddies. A good excuse to practice not only my German, but also my beer drinking skills!

Actually I just returned from the beautiful Isar Stadt and I must say, I had a blast! It was just like the old days, foot loose but not quite so fancy free anymore! (I am really not complaining)! I got to see Franz, go sledging in the Alps, spending most of the time on my butt in a heap of snow, biked around the Englischer Garten, swilled lots of beer with big men in leather shorts and even gave a small party, introducing the Germans to the delights of B2's favourite English dish, except for me of course, Shepherd's Pie!

The month of May makes our wedding a reality, followed by one week's glorious vacation/honeymoon at Lake Garda in Italy.

For the big summer event, Bruce's Mum will be flying over from California, along with her sister Karen, to celebrate her 60th birthday with us here in Germany. As Liane has never been to Europe before, we will be showing her around the Heidelberg area, as well as spending a week in vacation apartments down south in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.(See picture of Vacation Home below). There is something there for everyone, from hiking, to shopping to dining. However, Liane's is not the only birthday that will be celebrated during this time. B2 will clock another year in September! Sigh, it's just as well I am marrying him at a bargain age!

Stop Press!!!! Just learned that Bruce's friends Alan, Elish & family will also be joining us down in Garmisch for a week, so the fun will be doubled.
Stayed tuned for further trips! Ireland and The Gold Coast "Down Under" are possibly on the books in the course of the year. But first we have a wedding to pay for and to get through, before the real fun starts!

Future Plans!
Over the weekend of 21st January we packed up our snow shoes and headed south for Todtnauberg (near Freiberg), where we had hoped to find some good snow. (Needless to say this being Germany we were not disappointed)! The overnight accommodations were in the cheap, but nevertheless cheerful looking Pension Enzian! The trip was fun, although it never stopped snowing the entire time, and we were lucky to be able to see our hands in front of our faces. Actually we were lucky to make it back to our pension in time, just before the sun went down and we froze to death! Oh the joys of hanging out together are endless!

Our next adventure, or more appropriately named, our next probable disaster, will hopefully be in Italy, near Pisa, sometime in March. Assuming that all goes well with B2's current work project.

Actually we had both been thinking about learning Italian anyway whenever we got the chance. Now we have not only the chance but also a good excuse, and as a result have found a course at night school which we hope to attend starting in March. It would be awful not to be able to order a beer, or worse still a glass of wine! My my what would become of us there? I suppose we would just have to learn to order with our hands, like all of the Italians!
