The Wedding of the Millenium!

The invitations have been printed and are on their way.

The words on the front of the invite are typed below for those of us with bad eyesight!
To have and to hold from this day forward. For better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish until death us do part. With this ring I thee wed, with my body I thee worship, and with all my wordly goods I thee endow. By the giving and receiving of a ring and by the joining of hands.

Bruce: Don't we need to buy rings??

Carla: It is kind of traditional, but can we afford them out of YOUR budget?

Actually we have chosen our rings, they have been ordered and will be ready for collection in February.

In keeping with German tradition, our names will be engraved inside of the rings, along with the date of our betrothal. Bruce seemed to like this idea, as it means that if we change our minds before May, we can't easily reuse the rings. Unless of course I happen to find another man called Bruce, and he just stumbles upon another Carla, and all of this would have to happen by 25th May 2000, as the date of the wedding would have to match too! Wow, what a challenge that would be!

The Wedding Night!
After being offered the chance to spend our wedding night in my Dad's house, we decided to look elsewhere for accommodations. If you saw the house, you'd know why! When I lived there as a kid, my friends and I used to call it "Vampire Lodge." That should at least give you an idea! Just kidding, it's notthat bad, but it is not really how I envisaged celebrating our special evening!

Instead the bridal suite equipped with a comfy 4 poster bed has been reserved at The Westcliff Hotel (pictured to the right), set on the cliffs overlooking the Thames Estuary.

Along with our special bottle of Moet & Chandon, which we purchased direct from the source in France especially for this occasion, we should be in for some fun. If not fun, at least the bubbly will help us recover from the shock of realizing what we have done the day prior!

The Honeymoon!
Well, whether or not we can still afford one remains to be seen. But seeing as we are both easy to please, not to mention cheap, it shouldn't burn too big of a hole in the old wallet

Upon our return from England, we plan to load up Suzi Quatro the Jeep (yes she is a Suzuki 4 wheel drive, in case you were wondering about the nickname) and drive to Lake Garda, which is situated in the northern part of Italy. We have rented an apartment in the quaint little town of Riva Del Garda which looks out directly over the lake. From the complex we can ride some moutain bike trails, rent a boat, walk to town, hike and whatever else tickles our fancy.

One delightful week will be spent dossing lakeside, where we will not only celebrate our recent marriage, but also Carla's birthday! It doesn't get any better than that!

Bruce: Oh yes it does! You could be at least a few years younger! After all I thought you were only 32 when I met you, not 35! Now I feel thoroughly cheated!"

Time is ticking!

Day 146 is

almost upon us!

Bruce: Do I need to buy a new suit?
Carla: "If I have to wear a skirt, you have to look dashing as well! Shame I can't wear my new "techno trousers" which I got for Christmas for the big event. At least that way if I bail on the day I can run much faster in those pants than in a dress!"
